Childhood memories.

I stopped in at Hallmark today because I forgot to pick up birthday cards while I was out yesterday. Of course now that Christmas is less than two months away, most of the department and specialty stores already have their Christmas displays front and center, and Hallmark was no exception.

Normally I try to avoid all things Christmas until after Thanksgiving (I like to enjoy my holidays one at a time, but I'm just crazy like that), but something caught my eye at this particular Hallmark store.

This guy!

I remember having the original miniature versions of Rodney and Rhonda Reindeer back in 1988 when I was six years old. When the Christmas decoration boxes were brought out for the season, the little beanbag stuffed animals were one of the first things I looked for, and I always tried to put them in a prominent position somewhere in the house. I loved the little felt antlers and the big noses and feet.

So, needless to say I couldn't leave the store without Rodney. He's sitting on my ottomon/coffee table right now, the first (and for now, only) Christmas decoration on display. And like his miniature version all those years ago, 2007 Rodney will be getting a primo spot this holiday season. =)
