It's official now: Dave is in, and Geoff is out.
Dave moved into my mom's house over the weekend, and at the same time my brother moved out and into a house with his girlfriend.
That's a whole lot of moving.
I drove up Friday night to help by emptying out my old dresser, because Geoff and Brittany would be using it for their guest room. And boy, am I the biggest packrat alive. I had stuff in there going back to seventh grade - papers, notes, a ton of photos, toys from kids meals, etc. Needless to say, most of it went into trash bags or into the yard sale pile.
The actual moving part started at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. We drove over to Dave's and began loading some of his bigger items into the truck, including an approximately 850 lb. safe and about the same amount of weight in meat. I swear, that man has enough frozen meat to feed a third world country. And I'm not exaggerating.
After loading Dave's stuff, we drove back to Mom's, unloaded most of it, and then loaded more stuff of Mom's that would be going to Geoff's new place. This included my dresser, my daybed, the big ass TV and stand, and a couch. Then we drove to Geoff's and unloaded everything.
Whew.
And I'm completely jealous of my brother's house, especially the kitchen and the sheer amount of space (it's a 3-bedroom). But really, it's a nice place; brand-new carpet and paint throughout and the kitchen had recently been remodeled. It's a nice starter home for them, and I hope it'll bring them lots of happy memories.
By the end of Saturday, we were all beat. Mom, Dave, and I ordered Chinese and rented "Gone Baby Gone" for the night, and that was all she wrote. And boy was it ever nice to be able to sleep in a room with a door at my Mom's. :)
I got back to WC at around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, and relaxed for a bit before heading to NJ for dinner with my aunt, uncle, and cousins. So that was a nice ending to a busy weekend.
Now it's back to the grindstone at work this week. Hopefully everything will go according to plan with my proposal and I won't be super-stressed out... but then again we all know how that usually goes...
