I hope I'm not getting sick. I woke up this morning with a really scratchy throat and the feeling hasn't gone away, even after some orange juice. Little flare-ups of nausea hit me every now and then, too, but they're fleeting and only last a few seconds. Blah. I can't get sick right now!
When I got home yesterday, all of my belongings had been moved into my real apartment, which really surprised me. But then I realized that the carpets hadn't been cleaned, which is probably why they were able to move everything in so quickly (didn't have to wait for the carpets to dry). So I made a quick call to the landlord and asked him to at least steam the carpets today while I'm at work. There are some things living in the carpet that a vacuum cleaner alone can't pick up. =P
I'm also having him check on the dishwasher - there was only a top rack when I opened the door! It didn't even have the runners for a bottom rack, which really confused me. I've never seen or heard of a dishwasher that only had a top rack; I can't fit any dinner plates, pots, pans, etc. in there!
But anyway, other than the above (and the teeny, tiny bathroom that will take some getting used to), the apartment is shaping up nicely. It doesn't feel like home just yet, but hopefully it will after I put some more furniture in it and start hanging pictures. I got mostly everything unpacked last night; after I got off the phone with the landlord I dug out my iPod speakers, plugged in Ichabod II, and attacked the mountains of bags and Rubbermaid bins in the living room and bedroom. I'm pretty proud of all that I got accomplished.
But the first thing on my list for tonight will be to hit up the Giant for groceries. No more of this Wendy's/McDonald's/WaWa for breakfast/lunch/dinner. My wallet and waistline can't afford it anymore!
Tomorrow I'm making trips to Target, Petsmart, and Home Depot (and maybe a few other places), and then Sunday will be the IKEA trip with Mom to pick up the dining room table, two remaining chairs, the coffee table, and a few other miscelleaneous things. I trust my mom's sense of style and design, so it'll be good to have her input on the decor. :)
