The Barack Obama party on Saturday was pretty damn awesome, so many thanks go to Lib for playing hostess. Despite some technical glitches, of which nobody was to blame (except maybe the Obama Web site people for possibly not expecting the magnitude of people trying to stream the video from the site), I was able to come away from the gathering with a better idea of what Barack has in mind for this country if he's elected President. The conversations our group had after the online discussion were also enlightening. I'm not a very political person, so I chose to merely sit and absorb what everyone talked about. It was great to see a group of highly-intelligent people with differing views hold a civil and respectable conversation without screaming/yelling and jumping down one another's throats. Anyway, I'll still be doing my research on the candidates in the coming months so I have a better idea of whom to support.
Also, the food at the party was quite tasty. My hummus turned out pretty good, and from now on I'm going to be making crispy pita chips with various seasonings instead of buying potato chips. The pitas are cheaper, healthier and taste a whole lot better! And after leaving the party, we (Allison, Dangerous, TJ and I) stopped at Trader Joe's to pick up a few items. I'd never been to this store and my first trip will definitely not be my last. I found a few things there that I would have paid a lot more for at Giant or another grocery store, and the stuff at Trader Joe's is all-natural. So I'll be scheduling a Trader Joe's stop in about every other week or so. :)
Yesterday I didn't do too much. Cleaned and did some contract work for the PHC. I finished my last project for them, so I have a bit of a break until the next item on the list, which will be to help research the state's US Senators and Representatives for my ex-boss's trip to DC in two weeks for Humanities on the Hill. Sheesh, I do not miss preparing for that trip at all. It was such a pain in the ass trying to make appointments with the Reps.
Still no word on the apartment front. I'm going to call the guy today during my lunch break to see where he is in the background check process. I really want in this place...
I'm hungry. Good thing lunch is only half an hour away.
