Why so serious?

Never thought I'd say this, but I actually like Jessica Simpson's new song, "Come on Over." It's playing on WXTU and is quite catchy. May have to use one of my iTunes store credits and add it to my library list.

Weekend was a busy one. As seen in my last entry, I did indeed see The Dark Knight on Friday (and again on Sunday, haha), and it was an excellent movie to put it mildly. Heath was phenomenal as the Joker, and it's such a shame that he's not here to soak in all of the praise that's going around about him. MadLori wrote a bit about his role, which summed up my thoughts:

Okay, let me get this Heath stuff out of the way first. It'd be damn hard to live up to everything I've heard about this performance, let alone surpass my expectations, but that's just what he did. [...] The character didn't seem acted or invented but more like he must have popped up out of the concrete. I read another review that said it felt like nobody created that role, but that the Joker just showed up on set one day. Somehow Heath tuned that character to be extreme but not over-the-top. It would have been soooo easy to step over the line into caricature, which would remove all the character's threat, but he never did.

After the movie a few of us went to Bennigan's to dissect minor/major plot points, what worked/didn't work, etc. I mostly sat, listened, and ate my half of a Monte Cristo sandwich (the other half went to lldangerous), though. :)

Saturday was Brittany's baby shower, which was lots of fun. She and Geoff were given a lot of the bigger-ticket items (crib, stroller/car seat, pack 'n play, bassinet, high chair, etc.), but will need to go out to get a bit more. I ate lots of yummy food, watched Brittany open the gifts, played shower games (I won a prize for one!), and chatted with other shower-goers as the party winded down. Geoff and Zach showed up after most of the guests left to pack up all of the gifts and take them back to Geoff and Brittany's place. The Daddy-to-be went through some of the gifts and learned a few things along the way... like the purpose of the teddy bear with womb sounds. :)

He also liked the "manly" Columbia backpack/diaper bag that I got him, haha (it's on the left of the picture above). I stuffed it full with a bunch of travel things - blankets, disposable bibs and changing pads, a boo-boo ice pack, sanitizers, bottles, pacifiers and pacifier case, diapers, etc.

Only twenty minutes to go here at work before I can head home. Thank Jeebus. I actually made a lot of progress today, even if it doesn't feel that way. Let's hope tomorrow is just as productive.
